AUGUST 19, 2011
Currently, a member of the band
is making a delicious pasta salad and reflecting on what a
delightful Independence Day show we had on July 3rd. It was so good
that it felt like July 4th. Other members of the band may have dined
out this evening, but not necessarily. More to come...
MAY 24, 2011
Well, the band has relocated to a
new studio, but is still not quite set up yet, but are still playing
various shows in the meantime.
Also, over the last several months, Jarrod Gollihare has been in the final recording/mixing stages of a forthcoming solo EP, and along with that has been producing an album for Tulsa musician John Langdon for the better part of the last year.
John Russell has also been busy. Over the last few months he has scored and edited various video projects, and is now playing guitar for singer/songwriter Jenny Labow again. The two of them used to play together in the late 1990's and reconnected last summer. John is performing live with her at most all of her concerts.
Mark Carr has been busy with other work, and has his hands full raising his four year-old son, Bowan. Nuff 'said!
MARCH 25, 2011
So 2010 turned out to be a pretty
unattractive year. In fact it was downright hideous. But that's
okay, because 2011 has arrived and is well under way. So far it's
not nearly as calamitous as last year. However, the band is
currently in the process of moving out of our studio of the last 7
years and moving into a new place by mid April. New digs are always
inspiring, so we're looking forward to finally recording some of
this new material that we've got piling up. Time for some spring
cleaning, as they say. Need to get these songs committed to (tape)
so we can get them out the door. In other news, we're delighted to
hear that the Admiral Twin drive-in theater may be resurrected
sometime this summer. We'll post more information as it becomes
available.
SEPTEMBER 3, 2010
Today is a day that will live in
infamy for all Tulsans who grew up enjoying our city's premiere
drive-in movie theater, the Admiral Twin. A fire broke out Friday
afternoon and within less than an hour the entire double theater
screen was burnt to a crisp. A few hours later a bulldozer
demolished the burnt, remaining structure. Needless to say, we are
deeply saddened by this tragedy. The theater was declared a landmark
within the last decade, and celebrated it's 60th birthday this year.
Many families still frequented the theater as we all did as kids,
and later as adults. The 1983 Francis Ford Coppola film "The
Outsiders" features a scene that was shot at this theater. The fond
memories and nostalgia will live on, but even if it is rebuilt, it's
uncertain as to whether or not it will be the same. And for anyone
that came in really late, obviously this was the Tulsa landmark
which gave our band it's name over 12 years ago. Below are a couple
of photos representing before and after. The first one was taken in
2006, the second one was taken today.
The prospect of rebuilding is in the works.
Hopefully enough funds can be generated to save this historic
theater. Donations can be made here:

There's nothing quite like a
really long hiatus to make your website seem as though it's gone
dormant to the rest of the world. Well, we're alive and kicking. Our
website was being held hostage by a glitch after our host site
changed companies. Long story short, we're back online now and the
first thing to be updated was our concerts page. In May the band's
side project called Tulsa Rock Ensemble had it's debut at
the Tulsa annual event, Mayfest. The ensemble is made up of Admiral
Twin and members of the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra. In effect, it's a
rock band with a string section. Future TRE dates will be listed at
this website on the concerts page and at
tulsarockensemble.com. Admiral Twin is currently writing new
material for various upcoming recording projects. Stay Tuned.

Well... due to very interesting
circumstances, things did not quite pan out for us at the New Music
Seminar in Los Angeles. But we do appreciate everyone who gave us
their support.

Thank you to everyone who voted
for us on ourstage.com! Our song "Aeroplane" had won the Indie Pop
channel for January, and was then competing for the Music Finals,
which we have now won, and all because of you! Today we head to Los
Angeles for another competition (see the last post). Check back for
updates...
January 21, 2010
We're excited to
announce Admiral Twin was chosen as one of the three finalists in
the www.ourstage.com NMS
Artists on the Verge competition. In addition to our online EPK
receiving loads of attention from industry professionals and A&R
folks, we'll also be traveling to the New Music Seminar in Hollywood
on February 2 where we'll find out if we've won the grand prize, a
$25,000 promotional package and a chance to play a showcase in front
of all kinds of music biz insiders and such. (And there was much
rejoicing.) We'll keep you fine folks informed of how it all goes.
Plus, casserole recipes! Stay tuned.

Happy New Year!
Some fans have informed us that they believe that this is the year
of Twenty-Twin (an obvious pun on 2010). So we'll see where their
faith and determination propels us. And in light of that affirmation
from true believers, we actually are in the midst of some real
forward progress. As ever, we are reluctant to let the cat out of
the bag, that is until we know more details. But rest assured that
there is some genuine promise on the horizon. What we can tell you
is that in addition to that little secret, we are also headed back
into the studio to begin work on a brand-new album, due out later
this year. Also going forward is the plan to do some work on the
side with members of the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra, which we
mentioned previously. Our hope is that this relationship will also
manifest itself in a track or two on the new album. The long and
grueling last decade is behind us, the slate is clean. Let's roll
the dice and see where lady luck lands us. Cheers.
